Magnificent old Burgos is located in the heart of Castile and Leon. Its grandeur and rich history is felt everywhere – in the narrow streets, majestic architecture, ancient squares. Founded in 884, Burgos had time to be the first capital of the Kingdom of Castile. Famous historic and literature personage El Cid Campeador set out for his heroic feats from this city, and Christopher Columbus was welcomed here by the Catholic Monarchs after his second voyage to America. Besides, the city can boast of one of the most beautiful and old gothic-style cathedrals which was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Arco de Santa Maria, the Cathedral, St. Nicolas Church, the Castle Hill, the Palace of the Constables – it is just an incomplete enumeration of the attractions which you will see in the course of the tour. Our guide will tell you about the history and legends of this glorious city. You will walk along the narrow medieval streets and green shady boulevards along the river Arlanzon, enjoy the magnificent view of the city from one of the observation points, taste the local cuisine.
The tour can be extended with a visit to the Royal Monastery of Las Huelgas or the Museum of Human Evolution (the sites of prehistoric men discovered just 15 km away from Burgos are among the most ancient in Europe).
